4G usually refers to fourth generation, which can also be considered as successor to 3G and 2G standard .It describes the higher versions of wireless communication. The sophisticated communication system prevailing today can be redefined using the 4G concepts. It has different meaning in different context, but according to (WWRF) Wireless World Research Forum 4G is a combination of wired and wireless networks in computer,
consumer electronics and communication technology systems based on the internet technology, that can merge applications like the Wi-Fi and WiMAX capable of transmitting at a speed ranging from 100 Mbps (in cell-phone networks) to 1 Gbps (in local Wi-Fi networks). It provide high quality and high point security() and low cost set up,officially named by IEEE as Beyond 3G(B3G).
features:
· Infrastructure includes all the standards from 2G .
· Packet based(all-IP)
· Open internet platform.
Another term related to 4G is the IMT Advanced,(International Mobile Telecommunications Advanced),since 4G refers to the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. Technologies considered to be early 4G include Flash-OFDM, the 802.16e mobile version of WiMax (also known as WiBro in South Korea), and HC-SDMA (see iBurst). 3GPP Long Term Evolution may reach the market 1–2 years after Mobile WiMax is released. An even higher speed version of WiMax is the IEEE 802.16m specification. LTE Advanced will be the later evolution of the 3GPP LTE
4G aims to provide a comprehensive and secure all-IP based solution where facilities such as voice, broadband Internet accessand streamed multimedia should be provided to users .QoS is one thing 4G aims at.Is also accommodate the rate requirements set by forthcoming applications like wireless broadband access,Multimedia messaging Service,(MMS),Digital Vedio Broadcasting(DVB), minimal services like voice and data, and other services that utilize bandwidth.
objectives of the 4G wireless communication standard:
· Spectrally efficient system
· High network capacity.
· A data rate of at least 100 Mbit/s between any two points in the world
· Interoperability
· All-IP packet switched IP.
· Nominal data rate
